The Workshop primarily focuses on delivering the concepts of Fusion 360 in a highly Understandable format. This involves essential tools and techniques, from basic sketches to complex assemblies, providing hands-on experience in digital prototyping. At the end Students will be able to work out real life engineering examples and indulge in real life problem solving to design.

Course Module

3-Day Workshop

Hands-on course designed to teach you the essentials of creating and modifying 3D models using Fusion 360.

DAY 1 - Introduction to Fusion 360, making Basic sketches and 3D Modelling

Navigating the Workspace:
  • Getting familiar with the interface, Tool bars and design workspace
  • The need of different workspace for different design.
  • Customizing the interface and comparing efficiencies.
Understanding File Management and Cloud Collaboration:
  • Organizing and saving project files projects in Fusion 360’s cloud-based environment.
  • Understanding collaboration with team members in real-time.
  • Creating project folders and saving the design data.
Drawing 2D Geometries:
  • Learning to use the Line, Rectangle, Circle, and Arc tools to create basic shapes.
  • Applying constraints like parallel, perpendicular, and tangent to ensure precision.
  • Using the Dimension tool to define exact sizes and distances.
Modelling 3D Geometry:
  • Building a solid object using revolve and extrude tool from sketch
  • Applying fillet and chamfer to edges and using mirror and shell tool.

DAY 2- Sketch features, Construction and measurement and Modelling Features

Using Canvas Tool & Sketch from Image
  • Involves Importing images from device as references
  • Using the Canvas tool to obtain accurate sketching.
Arc Types and Patterning
  • Using rectangular and circular patterns in sketches.
  • Utilizing 3 different methods to draw an arc.
Practical Exercises
  • Designing a bottle and paper clip to workout sketching concepts.
  • Learn to use different tools to create the desired designs.
Creating Construction Planes
  • Learn to construct planes at an offset, through middle and along a path.
  • Using constructed planes in tangent with other tools.
Inspection Tools
  • Using Inspection tools to inspect the constructed body for things like measurements etc.
  • Learn to measure and verify the constructed body.
Advanced Modeling Operations
  • Using combine and split body features for combining and splitting solid bodies.
  • Using split body features for splitting bodies.
Feature Creation
  • Embossing text, creating holes, and threading tools.
  • Using tools to achieve desired design

  • Designing a bottle
  • Designing a bike handles

DAY 3 - Advanced Design Exercises, Assemblies, and Joints

Advanced Design Exercises
  • Hex Nuts and Bolts. Designing a detailed hex nuts and bolt.
  • Bulb Design. Designing a 3D model of a bulb, by using advanced modeling techniques.
Introduction to Assemblies and Joints
  • Assembly Basics. Understanding the fundamentals of creating assemblies and applying joints.
  • Dos and Don'ts of Assembly. Guidelines to be followed for effective assembly of design
Practical Assembly Exercises
  • Hex Nut and Bolt Assembly. Assembling the hex nut and bolt models to practice alignment and constraints.
  • Demo Assembly of Tripod. Demonstrating a complex assembly with a tripod, integrating multiple components and joints.
