Credit Card Nickname Field in SCA Webstore
When managing multiple credit cards on an e-commerce platform, distinguishing between them can be challenging for customers. What if you could enhance the user experience by allowing customers to assign nicknames to their credit cards, making identification easier and more efficient? This case study explores how our solution transformed a key aspect of our client's website, improving customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Client Portfolio
One of our US-based clients is a leading fiber optic technology group. They approached us with a specific request to enhance the credit card functionality of their website. They needed a way to help customers distinguish between multiple credit cards during transactions.
Problem Statement
The client required a solution to assign nicknames to their credit cards on the website. This feature was essential for improving the user experience, particularly for those managing multiple cards. The functionality also needed to be accessible in the “My Account” section to ensure consistency across the platform.
What We Suggested
Our team at Jobin & Jismi analyzed the client’s requirement of adding a nickname to the credit cards. Adding new fields would complicate the credit card section. Therefore, we proposed using an existing but unused field named ‘Memo’ under the credit card section in the NetSuite Customer Record. By repurposing this field, we could introduce the nickname feature without complicating things.
By implementing this solution, the users can enter a nickname when adding a credit card. Once the nickname is entered and submitted, it will be automatically saved in the NetSuite Customer Record. The nickname will then appear on the credit card section on the “My Account” page and during checkout. This ensures a seamless experience for customers.
Challenges
Customizing the credit card section posed significant risks. Introducing new fields was not feasible because of the complexity of the credit card data structure. Our developers had to carefully navigate these challenges by using the existing ‘Memo’ field.
Additionally, migrating data from the front end required meticulous planning and execution. Our team utilized an ‘extension’ and ‘Suitelet’ to ensure the integration was both smooth and functional.
Customer Success
Despite the challenges, our team successfully implemented the nickname feature for credit cards. The solution met the client’s expectations, allowing customers to easily identify and manage their credit cards on the website.
The addition of this feature significantly enhanced the customer experience, particularly for those using multiple cards.
